It started as an idea, that moved to a reality and that now is about to completely transform the city for the benefit of tourists and locals. Mazatlan Central Park will be the largest and most important urban park in the city.
Mazatlan entrepeneurs present "Parque Central", a project designed by the architecture and design firm "Bastidas & Partners" as a request from the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Sinaloa.
With this enriched idea, three inalienable objectives that the project should meet are defined: For society; Pride of belonging. For the city; identity. And for economic development for the benefit of all; a new tourist product of high quality.
The total investment would be around 2,340 mdp, 126.64 mdd. The project, which is divided into two stages, consists of building a historical museum, an aviary, walkways, bicycle paths, lakes and parks, improving the aquarium and the city's forest, as well as rescuing the shrimp lagoon, all in an area of 30 hectares with access from the boardwalk, 18 hectares that has the current Forest City and 12 more that are in the process of being acquired.
The project will be include a park, an aquarium and a museum. The new Mazatlan Park will feature an IMAX theater, over 30,000 square feet of permanent exhibition space; a store devoted to Sinaloan artisanal crafts; a bookstore focused on the history of Sinaloa and the Nowthwest Mexico; a second floor restaurants; and a massive second-floor terrace overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
The project is in its first phase, the Ministry of Public Works of the State has already launched the tender and the bases for the construction of the Central Park in the vicinity of the City Forest.
The call states that the construction of the Central Park will begin on February 9 to conclude on October 18, will be nine months of work; the opening of technical and economic proposals is scheduled on January 29.
